Prime Poker Trip Report : Monday, April 7th

Well, I got that itch to play some live poker again.

I decided to go play some PHP 25/50 NLHE at Prime Poker.

Early on in the session I picked up AA UTG, and decided to go for a limp reraise. This can be a pretty powerful move when it works but it is risky and can back fire easily if no one raises. That was the case in this hand, as MP, CO, and both blinds saw the flop with me.

The flop (250) came Jc5d7h, and I bet 150 into 250, getting two callers.

The turn was a 6h, which we call checked. The river was the Tc. I checked again, the second player checked, and last to act fired out a bet of 600. I hemmed and hawed before putting in the call and losing to 5cTc. On the next hand I picked up AKo UTG, and again went for the limp reraise. This time I took down a decent pot pre as there were a few limpers and an iso raise from the button before everyone folded to my oversized three bet.

Things picked up quickly after that. A few hands later I isolated an EP limper to 250 with QQ and picked up two callers.

The flop (875) came down QJ4 with two hearts.

I c-bet 550 and got one call. The turn was the 2s, a complete brick, and with only slightly more than one pot sized bet left I jammed. My opponent called, and mucked as soon as he saw my hand, so I guess he was drawing dead.

I also picked up a small pot when I opened with AQ and got four callers. I c-bet really small on Q44 rainbow and took it down. Then I lost a small pot with QQ, after I opened to 150, again got four callers and the flop came 543. I called small bets on the flop and turn. The river was a 6, so we both checked, and I lost to 55. I felt I lost the minimum in that hand at least.

In another hand I defended my big blind with Kc9c vs a 2.5x open and several calls. The flop was paired with two clubs. I was a bit hesitant to draw to a flush on a paired board, but my opponent gave me great odds and I called. The turn was a brick and we both checked. On the river I made my flush. My opponent had only about a pot sized bet behind, so I put him all in, and he called with an inferior flush.

Then I had AKo. I raised in EP and got three caller. The flop was AQ3 two tone. Pretty good, although I could easily be beaten as well. I c-bet 550 and got two callers. There was about 2400 in the pot on the turn, and both players had a bit more back. The turn was an off suit seven, and I jammed. They both folded and I took down a nice pot.

After about 5 or 6 hours I was +3400 and decided to call it a night.
